Perhaps the most infamous cottage court located in Springfield: Andy's Modern Rock Cottages were built in 1946 and operated until Feb 1959, when it was raided by five different law enforcement agencies! The owner, Harry Hundley, was arrested along with another man, both charged with, "accepting the earnings of a prostitute". Among others arrested in the raid were two females, 17 and 19, both charged with prostitution.

Prosecutor Don Burrell filed a successful petition for a permanent injunction to close Andy's Modern Cottages and Cafe, stating that the place is, "a bawdy house, place of prostitution and assignation house," and that because of excessive drinking, "large numbers of immoral and dangerous persons have congregated at such place at all hours of the day and night". The judge ordered the property be padlocked and all associated persons disallowed from doing any business there.

P. J. Holzman then purchased the property from Hundley in May of 1959, quickly reselling it to Jack Firth, by then rebranded as Cody's Cabins and Cafe, in the summer of '59. Mr. Firth, a former chef from Hollywood, California stated plans install a swimming pool and expand the cafe. It appears they had little success; ads ran for dining and monthly room rentals only through 1960.

Andy's Modern Rock Cottages is currently listed as critically endangered. It has experienced a severe decline since 1959, and almost all cabins have been lost. As of Summer 2026, the property is for sale for $499,000, and is listed as under contract. The listing advertises it as a good location for developments such as a fast food restaurant. It is likely that the site will soon be bulldozed and the will cease to exist.
