The Inland Printing company is one of the oldest companies in Springfield, Missouri. Founded in 1904, they moved several times through the 1920s, until eventually settling into a brand new building at 535 E. St Louis Street in 1929. Louis Reps was the owner of the building, initially leasing it to Inland Printing Company for 3 years. The building was built by W. W. Johnson at a cost of $50,000 (approximately $980,000 today). At the time, it was said that, "the structure will be one of the most handsome structures in the city". Just as striking as the beautiful facade of the building are the full page ads that Inland Printing Company ran to celebrate the opening of their new store.

The Inland Printing Company has since left the building. It has been occupied by the Sherwin Williams Commerical Paint store for decades. Although the top floor is now covered with unattractive metal cladding, the front facia has been dutifully kept up and is still beautiful.
